Every story has a beginning.

Ours started in 2006 when my mom, Sherrel, and I opened a little shop called Rowdy Maui. It was built on creativity, family, and a love for making people smile. For nearly twenty years, we painted, created, laughed, weathered hurricanes, celebrated milestones, and poured our hearts into a business we loved.

But God wasn't finished writing our story.

Over the years, my faith deepened. Life brought seasons of heartbreak, loss, uncertainty, and healing. When my mom went home to be with Jesus in December of 2025, I found myself standing at a crossroads. The business we'd built together would always be part of her legacy, but I knew God was calling it—and me—into something new.

Rowdy Maui wasn't erased.

It was redeemed.

From that season, Salt + Light was born.

Inspired by Matthew 5:13–16, Salt + Light is more than a gift shop. It's a reflection of what God has done in our lives. Every piece we create, every class we teach, every conversation we have, and every prayer shared within these walls is rooted in one mission:

Art with Heart. Products with Purpose. All for His Glory.

Today, my husband Rooster and I design and handcraft much of what you'll find in the shop, alongside carefully chosen work from local artists and makers. From hand-painted jewelry and artwork to journals, gifts, and workshops, everything is created with intention and the hope that it encourages someone in their walk with Christ.

One of the most meaningful spaces inside our shop is our seven-foot prayer cross. Visitors are invited to write down a prayer, hang it on the cross, and leave it at the feet of Jesus. Before you leave, we invite you to take someone else's prayer with you and lift it up throughout the week. It's a simple reminder that none of us were meant to carry life's burdens alone.

Salt + Light has become more than a place to shop. It's a place to create, to pray, to gather, and to be encouraged.
